Atlanta Collage Society

August 8 - September 19 Atlanta Collage Society

Collage is a formal element used for content, design, and composition in contemporary art.  Because it combines material elements and visual culture, collage creates an exploratory and evocative process for the artist and the viewer.

The Atlanta Collage Society (ACS) began in 2006 when a small group of local artists met together in a coffee shop. It has grown to include artists throughout the southeastern region. The purpose of the organization has been to foster appreciation, interest, and understanding about the medium of collage; to advance the stature of collage as a contemporary art medium; to support the professional development of ACS membership; and to promote collage within the general community.  ACS is affiliated with the National Collage Society.

With more than 60 members, the ACS roster includes collage artists, assemblage artists, and mixed media artists who incorporate collage into their work.  Membership is open to experienced artists as well as beginners. The ACS membership meets every other month with an agenda of education and camaraderie.  In addition, ACS sponsors several collage exhibitions each year, holds professional workshops, and crafts collaborative projects for community outreach.  ACS provides an opportunity to share creative activity in a group setting, encouraging innovation and interaction within the arts community.

Visit the ACS website (www.atlantacollage.org) and sign up to receive the free ACS newsletter published online twice a month. Membership applications are available as well.

The ACS newsletter and Facebook page maintain a current list of upcoming activities and events. Although based in Atlanta, ACS also exhibits in regional venues.

It is the ACS mission to promote the medium of collage through professional development: art exhibitions, educational programs, instructional workshops, community outreach, and membership support.
