The Susan G. Casey Art Library was established by Susan’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Casey, following the passing of their beloved
daughter. Susan was an art student at Georgia State
University. The library was originally housed in the
historic Mable House and relocated to the Mable House
Arts Center
soon after it was constructed. The
original library collection was housed in an antique two-door cabinet and a
painting by Ann Cockerill hung above. The cabinet and the painting were
relocated to the Mable
House Arts
Center, and three
additional bookcases were donated by the Friends of the Mable House.
The Casey Art Library exists for the enjoyment and education
of the public. Items in the library circulate to members of the South Cobb Arts
Alliance (SCAA), Mable House employees, and persons enrolled in classes at the Mable House
Arts Center.
The Casey Art Library collects books, audiobooks, magazines,
CDs, VHS, and DVDs with an emphasis on non fiction works. The subject matter of
the items collected is related to the arts and/or courses at the Mable House
Arts Center.
Items are acquired through the donation of funds and materials, and by direct
requests submitted to the SCAA board. Donated materials become the property of
the Casey Art Library and will be added to the collection or donated to another
organization, as the art librarian sees fit. The library cannot add all donated
materials due to space limitations and collection scope. Please consider the
collection areas before donating materials, and note that donations are tax
deductible.
