SUMMARY:Acrylic & Oil Painting Fall II
LOCATION:Mable House Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Six Week Session - Register HERE (https://secure.rec1.com/GA/cobb-county-ga
/catalog?filter=c2VhcmNoPTMxODEyMzM=)This is a class for students of all le
vels who would like to learn some new skills as well as fine tune their dra
wing and painting techniques in either oil-based or acrylic paint or both.
Students will work from subject matter of their choice as well as from life
. Beginners are welcome. Please bring your own materials, although some bas
ics will be provided to supplement. A suggested supply list will be provide
d on the first day of class. \nInstructor: Kim Machnik\nSupplies needed:\n\
n - One set of small assorted tubes of oil paints (at least 12 colors - Mas
ter's Choice is a good affordable one, but Windsor Newton and Grumbacher ar
e also good choices. Make sure it doesn't say water-soluble oil paints)\n -
One each additional small tube of Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, and Payne'
s Grey if you can find it. You will use a good amount of white.\n - Small c
ontainer of odorless paint thinner.\n - Glass jar with tight fitting lid fo
r used paint thinner, or metal paint thinner container and brush cleaner (i
t's all in one metal container with a lid and basket inside where you can s
tore and reuse paint thinner).\n - OPTIONAL: one small jar of linseed oil (
Linseed Stand Oil or just plain are both fine, but I prefer Linseed Stand O
il).  Set of assorted nylon brushes both round and flat (at least one detai
l brush size 0 or 1 - nylon are preferred to natural hair as they don't she
d).\n - One small container of brush cleaner (The Masters Brush Cleaner in
a short, round container is great, but liquid brush cleaner works as well.
One palette knife (metal or plastic).\n - One is all that is necessary, but
feel free to buy a package that has an assortment.\n - One set of small as
sorted tubes of acrylic paints (at least 12 colors - Master's Choice is a g
ood affordable one, but Windsor Newton and Grumbacher are also good choices
)\n - One each additional tube of Titanium White and Burnt Sienna as most 1
2 tube sets do not have Burnt Sienna. If yours does, you only need an addit
ional tube of Titanium White.\n - At least two (2) small canvas boards - 8x
10 or 9x12 work great. These will be for our additional exercises so will b
e needed on the first day.\n - One larger frame canvas for your more finish
ed piece. If you want to wait to purchase this until after our first class,
that may be better, as you may change your thoughts on which medium you wi
ll choose for your larger painting once I have introduced both. \n - I will
have palettes and foil for you to use, but if you want your own, an acryli
c palette is preferred over a wood one, and not very cost prohibitive. I re
commend purchasing a larger one. \n - You may want an art bin or container
to carry all of this, you can easily find Art Bins on Amazon or at Hobby Lo
bby or Michael's. Fishing tackle boxes work great too!
