SUMMARY:Acrylic & Oil Painting Fall II
LOCATION:Mable House Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:This is a class for students of all levels who would like to learn some new
skills as well as fine tune their drawing and painting techniques in eithe
r oil-based or acrylic paint or both. Students will work from subject matte
r of their choice as well as from life. Beginners are welcome. Please bring
your own materials, although some basics will be provided to supplement. A
suggested supply list will be provided on the first day of class. \nInstru
ctor: Kim Machnik\nSupplies needed:\n\n - One set of small assorted tubes o
f oil paints (at least 12 colors - Master's Choice is a good affordable one
, but Windsor Newton and Grumbacher are also good choices. Make sure it doe
sn't say water-soluble oil paints)\n - One each additional small tube of Ti
tanium White, Burnt Sienna, and Payne's Grey if you can find it. You will u
se a good amount of white.\n - Small container of odorless paint thinner.\n
  - Glass jar with tight fitting lid for used paint thinner, or metal paint
thinner container and brush cleaner (it's all in one metal container with a
lid and basket inside where you can store and reuse paint thinner).\n - OP
TIONAL: one small jar of linseed oil (Linseed Stand Oil or just plain are b
oth fine, but I prefer Linseed Stand Oil).  Set of assorted nylon brushes b
oth round and flat (at least one detail brush size 0 or 1 - nylon are prefe
rred to natural hair as they don't shed).\n - One small container of brush
cleaner (The Masters Brush Cleaner in a short, round container is great, bu
t liquid brush cleaner works as well. One palette knife (metal or plastic).
\n - One is all that is necessary, but feel free to buy a package that has
an assortment.\n - One set of small assorted tubes of acrylic paints (at le
ast 12 colors - Master's Choice is a good affordable one, but Windsor Newto
n and Grumbacher are also good choices)\n - One each additional tube of Tit
anium White and Burnt Sienna as most 12 tube sets do not have Burnt Sienna.
If yours does, you only need an additional tube of Titanium White.\n - At
least two (2) small canvas boards - 8x10 or 9x12 work great. These will be
for our additional exercises so will be needed on the first day.\n - One la
rger frame canvas for your more finished piece. If you want to wait to purc
hase this until after our first class, that may be better, as you may chang
e your thoughts on which medium you will choose for your larger painting on
ce I have introduced both. \n - I will have palettes and foil for you to us
e, but if you want your own, an acrylic palette is preferred over a wood on
e, and not very cost prohibitive. I recommend purchasing a larger one. \n -
You may want an art bin or container to carry all of this, you can easily
find Art Bins on Amazon or at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. Fishing tackle boxe
s work great too!  Register Here (https://secure.rec1.com/GA/cobb-county-ga
