DESCRIPTION:This course provides aspiring screenwriters with essential tools to craft c
 ompelling stories for the screen. Students will explore the fundamentals of
  screenplay structure, character development, and dialogue writing. The cla
 ss covers formatting basics, industry standards, and techniques for creatin
 g engaging narratives. Participants will analyze successful screenplays, le
 arning how to effectively convey visual elements through text. The course c
 ulminates in a final project where each student develops a short screenplay
  or the first act of a feature film. By the end, students will have a solid
  foundation in screenwriting techniques and a better understanding of the f
 ilm industry's expectations.\nInstructor Dr. Anita August has over 20 years
  of experience both as a writer and a teacher of creative writing at the un
 iversity level. She has placed in several screenwriting competitions and ha
 s been selected as a fellow to attend the Stowe Laboratory to workshop her
