SUMMARY:Acrylic & Oil Painting Winter I
LOCATION:Mable House Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Six Week Session - No Class on January 20 in honor of MLK Day  \nThis is a
class for students of all levels who would like to learn some new skills as
well as fine tune their drawing and painting techniques in either oil-base
d or acrylic paint or both. Students will work from subject matter of their
choice as well as from life. Beginners are welcome. Please bring your own
materials, although some basics will be provided to supplement. A suggested
supply list will be provided on the first day of class. \nInstructor: Kim
Machnik\nSupplies needed:\n\n - One set of small assorted tubes of oil pain
ts (at least 12 colors - Master's Choice is a good affordable one, but Wind
sor Newton and Grumbacher are also good choices. Make sure it doesn't say w
ater-soluble oil paints)\n - One each additional small tube of Titanium Whi
te, Burnt Sienna, and Payne's Grey if you can find it. You will use a good
amount of white.\n - Small container of odorless paint thinner.\n - Glass j
ar with tight fitting lid for used paint thinner, or metal paint thinner co
ntainer and brush cleaner (it's all in one metal container with a lid and b
asket inside where you can store and reuse paint thinner).\n - OPTIONAL: on
e small jar of linseed oil (Linseed Stand Oil or just plain are both fine,
but I prefer Linseed Stand Oil).  Set of assorted nylon brushes both round
and flat (at least one detail brush size 0 or 1 - nylon are preferred to na
tural hair as they don't shed).\n - One small container of brush cleaner (T
he Masters Brush Cleaner in a short, round container is great, but liquid b
rush cleaner works as well. One palette knife (metal or plastic).\n - One i
s all that is necessary, but feel free to buy a package that has an assortm
ent.\n - One set of small assorted tubes of acrylic paints (at least 12 col
ors - Master's Choice is a good affordable one, but Windsor Newton and Grum
bacher are also good choices)\n - One each additional tube of Titanium Whit
e and Burnt Sienna as most 12 tube sets do not have Burnt Sienna. If yours
does, you only need an additional tube of Titanium White.\n - At least two
 (2) small canvas boards - 8x10 or 9x12 work great. These will be for our ad
ditional exercises so will be needed on the first day.\n - One larger frame
canvas for your more finished piece. If you want to wait to purchase this
until after our first class, that may be better, as you may change your tho
ughts on which medium you will choose for your larger painting once I have
introduced both. \n - I will have palettes and foil for you to use, but if
you want your own, an acrylic palette is preferred over a wood one, and not
very cost prohibitive. I recommend purchasing a larger one. \n - You may w
ant an art bin or container to carry all of this, you can easily find Art B
ins on Amazon or at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. Fishing tackle boxes work gre
at too!  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER (https://secure.rec1.com/GA/cobb-county-ga/
