Observational Drawing for Beginners
Thursday, February 15, 2024, 06:30pm - 08:00pm
Location : Mable House Arts Center
Contact : Carolyn Rose

Have you always wanted to learn to draw? Drawing as a novice can be intimidating. It requires a safe space and a patient instructor like Carolyn Rose. Join her as she teaches students the process of intense observation layered with basic drawing principles. Without tracing, students will learn to render an object or series of objects through just observing it.

This class is geared toward those with little to no drawing experience. Its goal is to put you on a path to empowerment as a burgeoning artist.

Registrants should arrive with the following supplies:

  • One Strathmore 11 x 14 Drawing Pad Medium Surface
  • 2 HB Yellow pencils with erasure on the top (typical school pencils)
  • 2 Ebony Pencils
  • Little pencil sharpener
  • 2 pink pearl erasures
  • 1 erasure pencil - the Sanford peel-off Magic Rub is the best)
  • A Package of Vine Charcoal
  • Charcoal Pencil
  • Set of Soft Black Charcoal* you can find a package of Soft Pastel Black charcoal at finer Art Stores or you can order them online.
