Watercolor has a reputation for being a difficult and challenging medium. But by knowing and using the right materials and equipment and understanding some basic techniques, you will have in hand the ingredients to be successful. This workshop will dwell on the important fundamentals and help you become familiar with the special strengths of this medium, introducing you to the world of watercolor and its possibilities! Heidi will demonstrate the basics of how to use the brush & paint, and then have students practice the different strokes they can get with the brush to get the feel of making thick/ thin lines, the effects of more or less pigment and water in the brush, and how to create a wash. Then she will demo how to paint simple flowers, stems & leaves, and students will be able to complete a simple floral watercolor.
